Statement of GMS re: the Municipal quarantine effective March 15, 2020

Dear GMS Families,

In lieu of the declaration of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Municipal quarantine for those towns with confirmed patients, the GMS administration has decided on the following measures:

  1. Face to face classes in all levels are suspended for the SY 2019 – 2020.
    • In accordance to the DepEd Secretary’s memo, “We at GMS have covered all the essential competencies specified in the curriculum for SY 2019 – 2020.”
  2. 4th Quarterly Exams in all levels will no longer be administered.
    • The 4th Quarter grades will be computed based on their Written Tasks and Performance Tasks from January 2020 until March 6, 2020.
    • Pending group projects will be cancelled (Grade 4 –Reading and Filipino). However, individual projects (Reading 5- 6 and AP 7-9) must be submitted on March 20, Friday).
    • All projects must be placed in a long, brown envelope. Enclose all projects inside including the Student Clearance (Grade 4- 9). Seal the envelope and write the name of the student in front. For those with siblings; you may use 1 brown envelope.
    • A drop off box will be placed at the Middle Gate for all projects. Parents or guardians may drop off the envelope.
  3. Moving up/ Recognition Day on April 2, 2020 is Cancelled. Graduation Day is ON HOLD. Once the class suspension has been lifted on April 12; GMS will immediately release an announcement if the Graduation will still push through.
    • Certificates, Class pictures and Medals and other pertinent school records will be handed out to parents on April 16, Thursday; with the following schedule to limit the crowd visiting the school:
      1. Pre-School 8:00am – 9:00am
      2. Elementary 9:00am – 11:00am
      3. Junior High 11:00am – 12:00am
    • In the event that you cannot come to the schedule mentioned above, please contact the school for your appointment.
    • Team building and Camping are also on hold.
  4. Clearance and other accountabilities
    • Please ask your child to place their student clearance in the brown envelope (see #2c). The advisers will be processing the clearance.
    • Parents will receive a call from the school for clearance concerns and other accountabilities.
    • All school records of the students with pending clearance or accountabilities will not be released on April 16, 2020.
  5. Students may claim their personal belongings on March 20.
    • A teacher will be at the drop off gate to hand over the things left by the student.
  6. School Office Operation
    • School office operation will resume on Monday, March 16, 2020 7:30am – 5:00pm.

This memo supersedes all memo/ announcement previously released. Now is the time to help each other by putting our individual impulses aside and be proactive.
